Dear WOTE Family,
Lately, I have been exploring the profound power of scent and the mysterious ways fragrance can shift our energy, perception, vibration, and frequency. As an anointer, I am continually fascinated by how several drops of essential oil can soften the body, calm the nervous system, awaken memory, and open inner doorways that words alone cannot reach. I love applying the essences to myself and others throughout the day, as well as during sacred ceremonies and rituals.
There is something extraordinary about scent. We cannot see it, yet it changes us.
We cannot hold it, yet it enters the emotions, the memories, the imagination, and perhaps even the soul itself. Before humanity spoke in words, we spoke through scent. The aroma of earth after rain, smoke from the fire, blooming flowers, healing plants, the ocean air, and the body of a loved one. Fragrance has always been one of the oldest languages of remembrance.
Science now tells us that scent travels directly into the limbic brain, the center of memory, emotion, and instinct, bypassing the analytical mind. This is why fragrance can instantly transport us into another state of being, another moment in time, or even into a forgotten part of ourselves. The ancients understood this mystery well. Essential oils, resins, and sacred incense were used in temples, healing rituals, meditation, prayer, dream work, and rites of passage.
