Meet the products in this promotion!
In recent weeks, I have had a family member and a friend fall ill and test positive for Covid; my older grandson missed some of the first days of school and initial baseball practices because of respiratory issues.  A customer and friend described her grandchildren (who live with her) as natural “Petri dishes” because of everything they bring home from school to the rest of the family.

Definitely, one’s best defense against these and other exposures is a strong immune system, and if you or your family members become ill, essential oils to help with colds, flu, and other viral-based conditions, like measles are important to have on hand to support their return to health.  They are also great to have on hand to alleviate pain or swelling from sports or exercise-related injuries.

The following 10 products are being offered in this promotion: Juniper Berry, Highland (Nepal), Berries & Branches; Litsea Cubeba; Marjoram, Sweet; Thuja Orientalis; Pine, Scotch; Rosemary (High camphor); Ravintsara; Rhododendron; Rosa Rubiginosa (Rose Hip Seed) Oil; and Fraser Fir Hydrolat.  In the descriptions below, how each product supports these types of conditions will be highlighted.  For your broader information, cultural and spiritual aspects of these beautiful offerings will be mentioned, as well.

Medicinal Properties
•  High in monoterpenes (especially α-pinene), vitamin C, and resin acids.   The latter disrupt bacterial membranes and inhibit viral replication, making them powerful allies in immune defense.  (https://www.intechopen.com/chapters/80481)
•  Therapeutic Actions – They inhibit enzymes like COX-2, which are involved in pain and swelling. This makes them useful in treating arthritis, skin conditions, and respiratory inflammation.
•  Respiratory Support: Pine needle infusions and essential oil are used to ease bronchitis, sinusitis, and congestion. The expectorant and broncho-dilating effects are well documented.
•  Antiseptic & Anti-inflammatory: The resin and oil help disinfect wounds and soothe inflamed tissues.
•  Circulation & Muscle Pain & Stiffness: Often used in baths or massage to stimulate circulation and relieve muscle fatigue.
•  Immune Fortification: Pine needle tea was historically used to prevent scurvy and boost winter immunity.

Pine groves were entered with reverence, believed to house spirits and ancestors.  In fact, in reflecting on this, I am reminded of a very disturbing family scene I witnessed once while hiking…the children were fighting and yelling angry words, and the parents were yelling just a loudly. It was very unnerving. I personally believe forests are sacred spaces, in general, and should be treated as such.

Scotch Pine’s noble presence makes one feel like you are standing in a cathedral of trees, in the presence of protective elders.

Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora) Madagascar

Purity of Breath & Spirit — Antiviral Shield, Emotional Uplift, Spiritual Purification

This essential oil is considered by many as indispensable in home apothecaries for seasonal illness and emotional resilience.

Distilled from the leaves of camphor trees acclimated to Madagascar, Ravintsara is rich in 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), along with sabinene and α-terpineol. This chemotype gives it a distinct profile, separate from camphor-rich variants:
•     Potent Antiviral Action: Highly effective against viral infections, especially respiratory—used for flu, colds, and shingles.
•     Antibacterial & Antiseptic: Supports immune defense
•     Expectorant & Decongestant: Opens airways, eases sinusitis, bronchitis, and angina
•     Nerve Tonic & Stimulant: Revitalizes those experiencing fatigue, anxiety, or emotional depletion

Cultural & Spiritual Significance
The name Ravintsara comes from Malagasy: ravina = leaf, tsara = good. Literally, “good leaf”—a tribute to its versatility and healing power.
• Madagascar Adaptation: Originally imported from Asia, the camphor tree adapted to Malagasy soil, losing its camphor content and developing high levels of 1,8-cineole.  Why is 1,8-cineole important?  There is a lot of research out there, but I found this article of interest.  Don’t believe it when people say there is no science to support the medicinal use of essential oils. A lot is being conducted…more overseas, granted, but more recently, an increase in US sources as well.

Thuja Orientalis (Biota orientalis)
Well, the botanists changed their minds again, lol.  Previously known as Biota orientalis, or, originally in the 1750s as Thuja orientalis, this tree was reclassified in the1950s as Platycladus orientalis. Understandably (to me), that name seemed to have a hard time “sticking”,  as it was then renamed less than 10 years later to the surname of the President of the International Dendrology (the scientific study of trees) Society, van Hoey Smith. Whew!  Thankfully, it is still most widely known as Thuja orientalis or Biota orientalis.  Honestly, I do not know that I would ever have the patience to be a botanist!

Common names: Oriental Arborvitae, Chinese Thuja, and The Tree of Life.

Medicinal properties

•  Expectorant & Respiratory Support – Used to clear phlegm and soothe chronic coughs, especially in dry or irritated lungs.
•  Hemostatic Action – Helpful in cessation of bleeding, for example nosebleeds.
•  Antibacterial & Antiviral – Thuja’s antimicrobial properties kills bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites.
•  Hair & Scalp Health:  Helps to stimulate hair growth and can be massaged into the scalp or infused into shampoos or hair rinses.
•  Immune system resilience – Applied to the soles of the feet on a regular basis, Thuja orientalis offers powerful immune support.

Emotional & Spiritual Properties

Thuja orientalis carries a quiet, dignified energy—less brash than her Western cousin (Thuja occidentalis), more contemplative and sacred.  She passes these on to support meditation, reflection and restful sleep.
• Emotional Grounding – The aroma and associated chemotypes evoke steadiness and protection. Ideal for aiding with grief, transitions, or emotional overwhelm.
• Spiritual Clarity & Protection – The trees are often planted near sacred sites, as it was believed they would ward off negative energies and create a boundary between the sacred and the pressure of the external world.
• Chakra Resonance – Excellent for balancing the chakra centers through her grounding energy and her connection to ancestral wisdom.
•  Used in purification baths to cleanse energetic residue and invite clarity. Its cones and foliage are sometimes included in ancestral altars or seasonal offerings.
•  Used to balance the Chakra System; either anoint each chakra with a drop or two of the oil, or anoint the crown and root chakras with the intention to balance all that lies within.

Cultural Lineage
• Chinese Temple Tree:  The tree was planted in temple courtyards and graveyards.  Symbolizing longevity, remembrance, and reverence, Thuja orientalis is deeply woven into Chinese spiritual architecture.
•  Daoist & Buddhist Symbolism:
Associated with stillness, meditation, and the cultivation of inner virtue. Its evergreen nature reflects the enduring spirit and the cyclical nature of life and death.
A very special essential oil that deserves to be better known and more widely used in home apothecaries.  For those of you who use the French Inhalation Technique, this is an excellent choice and just a few drops will add “oomph” to your favorite combination.

Retail Price:  $30 15 ml; $211 120 ml
